• Encoding of special characters and spaces possible
• Avoid of file names longer than 63 chars (thanks to Joliet-CDROM-FS)
• Should contain most important information in a human-reabale and full-automatic machine readable form
• Should be usabel for samplers, interpreter albums, classic, CD collections (2+ CDs)
• Flexible hierarchy possible (starting with genre, interpreter, album names, release years, ...)

Must contain:

• Audio file(s) with internal Tags

Can contain:

• External Tags
• External Items

Internal tags are always song related. External tags can also be:

• Album related
• Composer / Interpreter related

External tags can be stored:

• In the same file in a different stream (MacOS/HFS + Windows/NTFS only)
• In a different file with the same basename
• In a central directory using EAN/UPC as access key
