Sennheiser HD 598 vs. Audio-Technica ATH AD-900X

Hi all, i'm gonna buy new headphons to replace my broken HD215, and mostly choose between these two models. I was googling a lot for a three days, but i'm not sure. Someone tells that AD-900X is not universally (i mean genres), but also someone tells that HD598 is ugly (boring) for metal for example. Also, I'm aware design of AD-900X, not sure if they will be comfortable for my head. I was looking also for AKG Q701, but read that they require good amp, which I don't have (i have 0404 USB with built-in headphone amp). Any opinions?

Are you looking for an open headphone? Does it have to be open? What's your budget? Do you use EQ?
I'm not sure you'd be happy with either one after an HD215, because I think* they both roll off the bass above 100 Hz.

*) haven't heard the X version of the ad900, but I'd characterize the old one even as really "bright"

Not necessary. Listen i'll be at home in a sufficiently quiet conditions.

No, but I hear that in quiet conditions at home it will be better, isn't it?

Budget is ~200$, maybe little more (Amazon sales soon, may be there will be something more expensive for these money).

I know that bass isn't much in these models, but I don't think that it will be painful for me.

I use HD598 since at least 2 years (I think) and I'm very happy with it. Good enough bass and good high frequency. At the beginning I had to get used to its sound reproduction (had an other closed Sennheiser before this one) and can turn up the volume without distortion. I listen to a lot of music genres but never metal.
