Everywhere I've read about Dr. Dre's headphones is that they're bass heavy, so if you're into that stuff, they're probably OK. Although I'm skeptical, they seem very overpriced, and of course, they have "Monster" and "Dr. Dre" on the name of the product.

That and the fact that Dre bleats on about how without his headphones listeners are not hearing the music the way they should be, which is amusing considering that if any subtle details ever existed in gangster rap they were surely lost when he applied the requisite extreme levels of compression and EQ.

I have heard that the sentence "Say WHAT???"" is actually most used by DJ's etc...

Because of the volume levels they play music at for long periods of time, their hearing capabilities is not something I would rely on.

But seriously...  I would just go and listen to a few models in that price range and make your decision upon that.  If you are willing to spend more money, I can recommend the Sennheiser HD600 (for US$ 342 @ Amazon).

Regards,
Peter

Justin Bieber uses them, so I think they're pretty cool.

You can get the ones branded by Justin himself:

"To truly bring music to life the way Justin can requires premium technology that is light years ahead of the pack."

And a sample of the sort of people (12-year-old girls?) who give this a 5-star "review":

I agree with surfer dude, you guys really need to make blue. If you made blue i would pay an extra 100$ for them.

In terms of headphones, better stick to companies with known expertise in the area (and preferably a track record for customer service, spare parts!!! etc.). Fashion brands tend to be hit and miss... mostly miss, actually. Are these the Dr. Dres with noise canceling?

Also, asking a question amounting to "are these any good" is pointless if we don't know how they are going to be used.

My Sennheiser HD280s are twice (or more) the headphones at half (or less) the price. That's my personal impression, when I compared 'em.

Q: Are those not headphones?

A: They are Energy Domes!

If nothing else, at least the price is much more reasonable than the Beats.
"Not sure what the question is, but the answer is probably no."
