Internet Radio in foobar2000 0.9

does foobar2000 0.9 support such feature, or do I need an extra plugin?
I have tons of radio stations, all playing fine in 0.83 but in 0.9 all I get is:
Code: [Select]
Unable to open item for playback (Unsupported format or corrupted file):
"http://xxxxxx.com:8000/"

Are you dropping the playlist file in to foobar2000..?

No. I manually download the playlist and then enter the address using 'File/Add location...'

To get Internet radio to work in fb2k I usually go to the station website, click on the proper broadcast icon and get a ".pls" or a "m3u" file which I then save and click on to get the audio stream.  It works for me, YMMV.

this is the tehnical info I get in foobar 0.83
Code: [Select]
aac_header_type = ADTS
aac_profile = AAC HE
bitrate = 128
channels = 2
codec = HE AAC
samplerate = 44100

the radio station is http://radio21.rdsnet.ro:8000/ and plays fine in ver. 0.83

I clicked on the above link, it loaded a shoutcast status page. I clicked on the "listen" link at the top. My firefox then passed a .pls file to foobar and the station played fine.

I also copied the direct link to the playlist file http://radio21.rdsnet.ro:8000/listen.pls and pasted it into foobar in the Add Location dialog, the station played fine.

I also copied the original link you gave of http://radio21.rdsnet.ro:8000/ and pasted it into the foobar Add Location dialog, the station played fine.

I am using foobar v0.9.1 and using all three of the above methods the station seems to play fine. You might want to try these different methods and see which, if any, work and which, if any, do not work. Prehaps then we can further narrow down your problem.

EDIT: Added additional methods.

So my question remains... do I need an extra plugin for aac plus?
This is what I get after loading the playlist

I have a clean install of foobar 0.9.2, firewall turned off and most of all foobar 0.83 plays it fine

Edit: I KNOW HOW TO OPEN A PLAYLIST

I do not know if any additional component is needed for aac plus. However, I have not installed any such component and I am able to load the station in question so I would suspect that you would not need to install such a component.

I did a quick look for 0.9.2 so that I could upgrade and better emulate your setup however 0.9.1 is still listed as the latest version on the main foobar page. You might want to try installing 0.9.1 into another directory and running that version to see if you still encounter your problem.

Here is a list of my installed components, you might want to compare it to yours to see if anything stands out:

Code: [Select]
AMIP Wrapper          0.90          foo_amipwrapper
Music Browser          1.1.7         foo_browser
CD Audio decoder     2.0           foo_cdda
Converter                1.0            foo_converter
Standard DSP array  1.0            foo_dsp_std
Special file info box   2.0.1        foo_infobox
[b]MPEG-4 AAC decoder 2.1          foo_input_std[/b]
Standard input array  1.0           foo_input_std
FLAC decoder            1.1.0        foo_input_std
Taskbar Button Remover 0.1      foo_notaskbar
ReplayGain Scanner   2.0           foo_foo_rgscan
Columns UI       0.1.3 beta 1v5   foo_ui_columns
Album Art Panel         0.164a      foo_uie_albumart
Track info panel         0.8           foo_uie_trackinfo

The only thing that really stands out to me is the MPEG-4 AAC decoder but as you can see by the foo package that is a standard decoder included with the foobar distro.

I eventually located 0.9.2 in the beta section and upgraded, however it appears the radio station in question is no longer available at this time. I was, however, able to successfully load several shoutcast stations in 0.9.2. without a problem. Both from a clean install of 0.9.2 and an install upgraded from 0.9.1.  The station I used for testing was http://221.189.218.60:8100

Perhaps your problems were specific to the station you were listening to and the time you were listening to it.

I think the problem lies with 0.9.2 beta. It's AAC decoding support for streams is buggy. If you try 0.9.1 (or even drop the old foo_input_std.dll into the 0.9.2 components directory) you'll see what I mean.

Thanks a lot for clearing this for me...
Could please someone upload the specified dll 'foo_input_std.dll' (if this is allowed)
The thing is that I really don't want to go back to 0.9.1

I'd assume it comes under modified setup package...

Anyway, if you download 7-Zip you can actually open up the setup package for foobar2000 0.9.1 and extract only the file you need.

I can confirm aacPlus decoding works fine in 0.9.1. At least it says 44100 Hz anyways, and SBR in the properties. I wonder what is up with 0.9.2.

Don't seem to work. I am using the command line version of 7-zip
The output is:
Code: [Select]

7-Zip (A) 4.42  Copyright (c) 1999-2006 Igor Pavlov  2006-05-14

Error: E:\Temp\foobar2000_0.9.1.exe is not supported archive

the same if I rename foobar2000_0.9.1.exe to foobar2000_0.9.1.7z

You'll be pleased to know that foobar2000 can now (again) play AAC streams in 0.9.2 beta 3.

It's playing fine in foobar 0.9.1 for me. I don't have very many extra plugins installed. Perhaps that is what is causing your issue with this stream and others? That's my first guess.

Again, playing fine for me in 0.9.1. Interesting station too, music from Square Enix games. I'll have to add this one to my favorites.

Are you sure the problems you are all experiencing is with foobar2000? Have you tried tuning in with other programs to make sure it's not a problem with your ISP, firewall, router, etc? I still think plugins are suspect. One thing to try would be to zip up your current foobar folder to back it up, then delete the original and reinstall fresh.
