Has anyone recently tried to install foobar using Wine, PlayOnLinux or any other windows-translating software like this recently? I was only able to install and use Foobar and ColumnsUI on the Snap version. Installed by Wine (either in 32 or 64 bit prefixes) and trying to use columnUI only gave me a blank window. It seems only DUI can be used by anything that uses Wine.
And the snap version is so slow and I am experiencing stutters and pops with the sound.
I basically only use it for tagging purposes now.
I have had to start using Spotify (which was always a main stay anyway and is excellent [no pops]), and deadbeef.
I also can't use wasapi (on event or push modes) except it's shared output. The wasapi push on the install I use to have eliminated the pops and stutters even though the UI was still laggy a bit and it used about 25 - 30% of my CPU resources.
Now attempting to use wasapi as push/event just gives "exclusive mode not allowed" (on the snap version + columnsUI)

Right now I'm using wine-10.4 (Staging), kubuntu 25.04 and foobar2000 v2.24.3 32 with columns UI 3.0.0.0-alpha5 and seems to run just fine. You must set wine windows to windows 10 or above in winecfg

I can't help you too much with that, I just use pulseaudio. There is a output component for foobar xaudio2 that doesn't resample the output but in my setup it has one problem, sometimes if you pause the playback it doesn't sound when you unpause.
Also some people use the winealsa driver in wine, but I don't have any experience in this field.

i got a completely blank (black) window when running foobar with coloumns UI (2.1.0) on wine 10. For me the problem was solved by unchecking "Enable CSMT for better graphic performance (deprecated)" in winecfg under the "Staging" tab. By the way my windows version is set to Windows 11.
Hope this helps

Hi @paregistrase , I am wondering if you have had problems with DirectWrite font list fetching with the CUI 3.0.0-alpha.X versions. I am currently having issues with it and cannot select font families or styles.

Usually use DUI and Georgia in TV living room and I don't even notice, but yes, it gives an error listing fonts.

I see, I'll keep this thread posted if I find a solution then. Thanks!
