Audio Coding/ DSP education

I have a question for all of ya here.  I graduated from UMass @ Amherst with a B.A. in Communication in May 2002.  I have recently decided that I want to go back to school.  But now I'm really thinking that I want to go back to learn audiocoding or dsp programming.  I've kinda looked at the compsci dept at Umass and am really considering going back there, but I was looking for suggestions for all of you about where I should go or what I should focus on.

thanks.

At least at my university the only people dealing with audioencoding and such are in a group called "signals & systems" under the electric engineering dept. Umass may be organized differently but you could check what courses they offer at the ee dept...

Edit: (After a quick look the course list of the umass ee dept, they don't seem to have much more than standard DSP courses - so just forget this post... )

Yeah, UMass has a great electircal/computer engineering dept, but the good courses for audio coding are all grad courses

Anyone else have any ideas for anything inthe New England area?
