Sync with UMS mp3 player ?

Hi everyone,

I'm searching for a efficient way to sync music between my music library and an mp3 player.

I've got lots of flac and a few mp3, so there needs to be a conversion from the flacs to mp3 in the process.

Here's what I do now:
- I've got one playlist for every mp3 player (all of them are UMS)
- I have a convert preset that sends the files (converted to mp3) to a dedicated folder
- I copy the folder to the device

This may seems simple (it is) but it has several drawbacks:
- all the files are converted, even the ones that are already mp3s
- this could be very long as every files has to be converted (one of my mp3 player is a 40 Gb Cowon X5)

What I'm searching is some way to:
- only transfer the files that are not already in the destination
- only convert the flac files

There's a great component to sync to an ipod... with a sync feature and a very useful tag mapping.
Unfortunately, I have no ipod (maybe I'll take one next time, because it would be easier to use with foobar)

I found nothing doing the same thing fot UMS players...
Maybe it's possible to do it anyway... but I didn't know how.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Up...

Nobody uses an UMS mp3 player?
Next time I'll buy an ipod as it seems to be a lot easier to use with foobar...

Another flaw of the process I'm using now is that foobar doesn't keep the cover image when converting flac to mp3...

Yes, I already read these posts but found no answer in it...

foo_sendtodevice seemed nice but doesn't seem to exist anymore.

You can download it here: http://members.westnet.com.au/carlodimarti...endtodevice.dll (from [a href='index.php?act=findpost&pid=0']foo_sendtodevice, Quick copying to usb device, post #192[/a])

Thanks, I'll try this and hope it'll work with foobar 1.1.x.

I tried it but it doesn't answer my needs:
- no sync feature
- conversion with lame is sequential (only 1 core of my quad is used) and with an annoying DOS window opened for each file. So it takes a LOT of time to convert.
- if any special characters in tags used for Folder or filenames, I get errors.

I know that it is not ideal but as long as we don't have a special component or fileops lacks of special options you can try this (can't estimate its quality, so apologize if it is not bmuch better than foosendtodevice):

Thanks for your reply.
In fact I already tried this as it sounded very promising... but I was totally unable to make it work.

I think it does exactly what I want, but I'm not sure it works with foobar 1.1 (maybe I just don't understand how it works... it's possible I give it another try some day)

I desperately want this feature too. You'd figure it'd be easier to implement than foo_dop, but I guess there just isn't enough interest.

However, it is in alpha stage and wasn't updated since one year. Since it is open source maybe one developer ...

how about symbian3sync?

As far as i know symbian doesn't barricade the access to the storage as well as android doesn't do it. Therefore foo_androidsync should be able to work with symbian phones.
