Sennheiser hd 280 pro vs hd 448 vs pioneer hdj-1000

I'm a nooby here just joined and if this has already been answered lock and or delete this thread please or point me in the right direction. Sorry for adding another thread to the bunch but any way... I'm looking for new headphones and would prefer to keep the price under $150. I'm looking to replace my hd 212 pros which are old and I don't think the sennheiser site even has them displayed any more.

Comfort is an issue because I wear my headphones for more than 2 or 3 hours at a time (listening to music and gaming at a computer). I do wear glasses and i would prefer closed cans that go around the ear and not over.
I listen to almost every style of music in some extent however I am a fan of bass heavy music.

Which headphones do you recommend and why from either the sennheiser hd 280 pro vs the hd 448's or the pioneer hdj-1000's or is there another headphone brand/model you suggest around my price range.

Take a look at the following:

Audio Technica ATH-M50

Audio Technica ATH-A700

JVC HA-RX900

Sony MDR-XB700

Each are closed headphones, with bass.  The M50 has 45mm drivers, the rest have 50mm drivers.  They would be circumaural (around the ear) for all but the biggest heads/ears.

They can be purchased from Amazon for less than $150 USD (including shipping).

I would not recommend HD 280 to someone seeking comfort and/or wearing glasses. They are rather tight. They also might not have enough bass for a basshead.

hd280pro should be good on bass http://www.headphonereviews.org/headphone/...eiser/HD280+Pro

I will go with hd280pro as they are technically better than 448

Or maybe better class HD 555 or 595 for under 150$ price

I like the Hd 280s a lot. I have a big head and wear glasses. They are very tight but I have gotten used to them.  They can get hot with pleather earpads  Perceived tonal balance seems pretty even to me, with decent bass.  Nothing really pops out about the sound in a good or bad way.  They are a little muddy, but just a little. I recommend them highly.

I also have the AT AD700. These are perceptually lightweight in the bass but very open, clear, and detailed. They seem spacious. To me it sounds like they have a hf boost and sound a tad piercing. They are very loose, and the earpads squeak against my glasses, to the extent I plan to sell them. But they do sound terrific in a number of ways.

Also, it's unclear if you want closed, circumaural, or both, the AT above is open.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Let me add some info. I do not want open headphones because of sound leakage even though they may have better sound quality over all. I would prefer to keep around $100 but am willing to go up to $150 if they are spectacular. I'm looking for both closed and circumaural at the same time. And if i didn't already specify this (I don't think I did) I would highly prefer headphones with replaceable cords just for the extra assurance factor that a broken cord doesn't = money down the drain.

Have you considered HD 380? They are somewhat heavier on bass and should not suffer the headband cracking problem of HD 280.

I highly recommend trying out any headphones before buying (if you have the possibility).

Martel thanks for the suggestion. However simply looking them up there already beyond the budget I'm willing to spend at this point in time.

I'm sorry but I didn't know where you lived. In Europe where I live HD 280 pro is sometimes more expensive than HD 380 pro. Just looked on amazon.com and found out the HD 380 pro is quite overpriced in US whereas HD 280 pro is dirt cheap.
Check the German Amazon, they're like $150 including a considerably high VAT (+19%):

Audio Technica ATH-M50  - OK bass, but the lightest low end of this group of 4. Comfort OK.

Audio Technica ATH-A700 -  More bass, but IME  poorer isolation but better comfort.

Sennheiser HD 280 - Even more bass, but less comfortable Still OK over the long haul

Sony MDR V900HD - Bass to the point of being unnaturally bassy, but still euphonic. Pretty comfortable
