Writing CD Text or Id3 tags on a CD?

Basically as the name of the topic is entitled, what is the difference between putting id3 tags on a music file (wav. in my case) and putting CD-Text on a cd? My situation is burning wav. files (DAO) onto a blank CD. I understand that not all media players will show the given names I put in but I figured with all the CD burning that I'll be doing (Grateful Dead live tapes) I might as well put either option on the CD so that way in case I put it on a media player that reads it the track names will show up.

Do you want to write the CD as data CD or audio CD? CD-Text works only with audio CDs and requires a CD-Text capabile player to display the information. Writing ID3 tags to WAV files is discouraged AFAIK - you could use RIFF tags but I don't know which players support them. Anyways, ID3 or RIFF tags only help if you write the files as data CD but in that case, it might be better to use something like FLAC.

I'm writing them as audio CD's, but thanks for your answer.

CD-Text would be my best option.
