DTS Decoder DSP doesn't work with foobar 1.0

Hey kode54,

I've been using foobar 0.9.6.9 with foo_input_dts 0.2.7 and activating the "DTS decoder" DSP in order to play DTS-WAV (.WAV) and DTS-FLAC (.FLAC) files. It's been fantastic and I love converting my DTS collection to the FLAC container so that I can tag it all with the FLAC tag standard and burn to DTS-CD more easily .

I just updated to foobar 1.0 and foo_input_dts 0.2.8 and the DSP doesn't seem to work - it only gives static with .WAV and .FLAC despite being activated as a DSP. Foobar 1.0 also doesn't work with foo_input_dts 0.2.7 so the problem appears to be with some change in foobar 1.0.

However I can't test foo_input_dts 0.2.8 with foobar 0.9.6.9 since it only works with 1.0 so I'm not 100% sure that the problem doesn't also lie in foo_input_dts 0.2.8 too.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
vince

I do not use DTS files, so I cannot speak from experience but may this answer your question?

If I am wrong please delete my post.
This is HA. Not the Jerry Springer Show.

It works here. Are you sure it's the first DSP in the chain?

Ahhh I had the equaliser DSP above it. That makes sense but it's a bit of a trap in foobar . Thanks!!

Yes, I can handle a static volume scale applied to the DTS data, but nothing else. Perhaps I should bundle documentation, or add a "(top of chain)" notice to the DSP name.

Yes, excellent idea .

It's just common sense
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is.

LOL, not common sense. A matter of education about that aspect of foobar. I'm not sure what other conflicts/problems happen when other DSPs are in the wrong order, but maybe foobar could have some sort of semi-automatic management of DSP order, like putting DSPs which process pure PCM at the back and other ones which decode codecs before decoding to PCM, in front .

Hey kode54 I have downloaded this dsp, placed in the components folder and restarted foobar (1.1.14a). But it's not appear in the dsp manager, any suggestions would be appreciated  thanks.

Unsurprising, because that isn’t the correct way to install a component.

How do I install additional components?

Note that this content applies to foobar2000 versions 1.1 and newer. If you're using an older version, please upgrade now to utilize the new interface.
• Step 1: Open the foobar2000 preferences dialog.
• Step 2: Go to the Components page.
• Step 3: Click the “Install…” button and select the component archive, or simply drag it to the list.
• Step 4: Press “OK”, you will be prompted to restart foobar2000 in order to load the newly installed component.

This component is no longer a manually activated DSP. It automatically decodes DTS signals stored in WAV, FLAC, and WavPack files, and audio CD tracks. (And possibly also ALAC, I'm not sure.) You don't need to do anything for it to work.

Oh, and if you're converting files to another format, you'll want to toggle the Enable decode postprocessing check box under Processing in the converter, depending on whether you want it to decode the DTS signals during the conversion, or leave them alone.
