Using "play and pause" shortcut in playlists

Hi Folks:

I have a "play and pause" keyboard shortcut set in my preferences. The shortcut works for a track that is already playing: double click on a track in a playlist and it plays; then hit the "play and pause" shortcut and it will pause or play the already playing track.

I wonder if there is any way to have the shortcut work for a track that isn't playing (or double-clicked) already. Let's say I'm scrolling around a playlist using the up and down arrow keys. I come to a song I want to hear (hilighting it, but not double clicking on it), and then hit the "play and pause" shortcut to make it play. Is that possible?

Thanks for everyone's help....

Well, I was interested in using the "play and pause" shortcut I assigned. Also, "enter" seems to work just as a "play" rather than "play and pause."

If the song is stopped it will play the song you've selected.

When it's paused it's going to resume, logic.

You want a "play and play" button.

Just bind a regular play action.

Not such an odd idea, just a play/pause command where the selected track takes precedence over the playing track. I also would find this useful for my HTPC remote.

Maybe Playback Follows Cursor could be adjusted to give this behaviour? So if foobar is stopped and PFC is on, play or pause acts on the selected track.
