Though the latest encoder source availible there is old, v1.1.
How can he possibly not notice the encoder source is there i have no idea. If he cares at all about MPC or searching in general, he must know this site, apparantly he doesn't.

sv7 v1.1 is pgp encrypted.

sv8 v1.93 is open.

Ah ha. Didn't remember that. Then what he can do is ask, if he doesn't get it, that's it, no source for him and he can stop asking .

Just for the record, Frank has recommended not to base projects on this encoder since it is not actually SV8 but pre-SV8.  The file format will not be compatible, plus it is lacking features that will be present in the actual SV8.  Another problem is that the files produced by this encoder are not compatible with most current players, and they shouldn't be updated to support this transitional (which is meant only as a testing platform) format either.

It's best to wait for the final SV8 spec to be stabilized and released.  I suggest to anyone wanting to make an encoding plugin for MPC that they should contact Frank directly for the most up to date information on the current situation and progress towards the true SV8.

The trick Case and I used for the Cool Edit filter might work in Nero. Use standard in/out pipes to write directly to mppenc.exe. The source for the Cool Edit filter is included in the zip file on Case's site (http://www.saunalahti.fi/~cse/mpc/).

Check out the following functions in mpc.cpp:
AddDataToPipe()
StartPipedEncoder()
StopPipedEncoder()
EncoderThread()

You might want to clean it up a bit, as there is Windows GUI stuff for a test application that was never removed.

I am having problems with the MPC plugin. Nero Wave Editor crashes upon I open an .mpc file. The odd thing is that in Nero Burning Rom, if I add it to a new CD i can even play it correctly (I mean playing the .mpc file with the "Play" button, not once the CD is burned).

I just wonder if someone else is having this problem as well or might have a clue of why this happens.

These plug-ins are nice, but I have a few quirks:

1.  Vorbis plug-in does not let you specify a q-value or ABR stuff
2.  I would have liked the Lame plug-in based on 3.90.2
3.  Sources are not released

I think we need a shim layer for existing codecs:  a plug-in that calls executable encoders/decoders, caches the intermediate file and passes it to/from Nero.  Where codecs allow, piping could be used instead of intermediate files.  An EAC-like dialog box for configuring command-line options would do the trick.

Any thoughts?

Request for whoever makes these plugins. I am sure that myself and others would love it if replaygain support (title/album) for OGG, Musepack, etc. would be made available with these plugins. The plugins work great otherwise, but I cannot stand having volumes change from song to song on a mix CD.

I heard that the nero plugins author, mausau, is not interested in reading any forums (cd-rw.org offered him a support forum), so you'd prolly have to email mausau about any suggestions.

Personally I think that someone like john33 should create superior plugins which we could host at HA, and people could actually give feedback which counts..

He was not interested in having a support forum, but I think he does read them. After all the plugs have improved a lot form the initial versions, so some feedback is getting through (things requested have been added). He is releasing new versions almost daily.

Well, I still think we should host superior nero plugins, just because I'm tired of you bragging in irc how popular site you have and how HA sucks because it's so tiny...
And a little competition on this side wouldn't be bad for anyone.
At least we would get few more visitors, so that we would suck a bit less. After all, like your sig says: "Size does matter".

It appears the binary-pipe method was adopted, it was mentioned in the other thread as the trick for mpc.flt.

I just don't understand why he's so lame. The MPC decoder AND encoder source is availible from Frank Klemm's MPC site. Though the latest encoder source availible there is old, v1.1.

I don't think he is the lame one, unless your powers of eliteness have granted you the ability to crack the RSA and IDEA cryptographic algorithms. From Frank's site:

This is pretty much how burnatonce works...  flac support added in 0.96...

The APE codec seems to update daily (along with all the others), but the version number stays at 1.0.0.2.

A little confusing.

All Mausau-PlugIn´s don´t work together with the latest version of Nero Burning Rom (xxxxx.20) anymore. It´s because in Nero itself were made some changes in handling the PlugIn´s. There always appears the error-message "Unknown format", if you try to drop some files into the Nero-window.
My used codecs and settings:
FLAC V1.1.2 -4 / APE V3.99 Update 4 -high / MPC V1.15v --q 5 / LAME V3.97b2 -V2 --vbr-new / OGG aoTuV V4.51 Lancer -q5

With Nero 5.10.10 everything's fine with mpc decoder plugin, yesterday I write an audio cd with mixed files (mpc & mp3) and I havent any problem but the encoder plugin don't work  , only decoder plugin, another thing, replay gain not works yet
MPC: --quality 10 --xlevel (v. 1.15s) (archive/transcoding)
MP3:  LAME 3.96.1 --preset standard (daily listening/portable)

I'm sure that Mausau has already been informed of the situation with ...20 but isn't he working off an older SDK? He's gonna have to contact the developers to get a fix, which is probably why there hasn't been an update since 4/1/03.
