Does dBpoweramp use -vbr new?

I put the vbr 3.99 beta

http://lame.bakerweb.biz/

Into the lame folder, and took lame out...

Now I want to use -vbr new, I'm not sure if it does, as EAC reports when EAC does, dbowermp doesn't write a tag for saying so...

If it doesn't, does 3.99 use vbr new by default?

It's alpha. "alpha versions should be used for testing only".

dBpoweramp Configuration >> Music Converter

Enable the Debug option and you will see the exact command line passed to Lame (rip one track).

I understand, but lame 3.98.2 is garbage compared to quicktime aac true vbr, and mp3 lame 3.99 now is neck in neck with true vbr quicktime..if not better, and quicktime cant be used as an external compressor, so it's lame 3.99

Will it allow me to change the command line parimeters? And does lame 3.99 use -vbr new by default?

This is a pretty bold statement. Can you back it up?

TOS#8: All members that put forth a statement concerning subjective sound quality, must -- to the best of their ability -- provide objective support for their claims. Acceptable means of support are double blind listening tests (ABX or ABC/HR) demonstrating that the member can discern a difference perceptually, together with a test sample to allow others to reproduce their findings. Graphs, non-blind listening tests, waveform difference comparisons, and so on, are not acceptable means of providing support.

Was it too much to enable debug mode and see for yourself if dBpowerAMP is using the --vbr-new option?

Code: [Select]
Z:\>lame --longhelp
LAME 32bits version 3.98.2 (http://www.mp3dev.org/)

usage: lame [options] <infile> [outfile]

    <infile> and/or <outfile> can be "-", which means stdin/stdout.

RECOMMENDED:
    lame -V2 input.wav output.mp3

...

  VBR options:
--vbr-old       use old variable bitrate (VBR) routine
--vbr-new       use new variable bitrate (VBR) routine (default)

For the last update we removed vbr-new as it is the default mode.
