How to "Tag & Edit?" FLAC files after they have already

after already on harddrive (not from a CD, directly as done with EAC or iTunes)

Hi,

I think that I'm talking about 'tag & editing' but I'm not certain...

I would like to be able to, first, rip a complete CD at a time when not connected to the internet and, after the initially nameless files have been ripped to my computer harddrive, I would like then obtain the metadata (composer, artist, track titles, etc.) from freedb later on once I have access to my internet connection. 

I found a software (freeware) that seems to do this for mp3s, but not FLAC files.  Is there a good software that is completely free that someone could recommend?

I just did this for the first time yesterday.
You can use Winamp to do this. 
1 - Get the Flac plugin for winamp
2 - Play the select files in winamp  (they dont actually have to be playing, but you need to seem them in the playlist
3 - Select them all in the playlist, Right Click - Send To - Autotag
4 - When they are all done Click the Apply Changes Button

I have winamp version.  5.541
Im sure there are many other ways to do this, but if you already have winamp its an easy way.

Thanks, it worked out great.

However, say if I didn't want to use the freedb database, and instead wanted to use the Gracenote database - would I be able to do so (i suppose not using foobar, since foobar is limited in this function to freedb)?

Hi,

I would like to auto-tag my flac files using the preferred Gracenote CDDB - for classical - (not freedb) after the complete tracks have been previously extracted to the harddrive yet without track titles.

At first, I tried the Quintessential Player 4.51 (QCD) software, but when I downloaded a hard-to-find 3rd party flag pluggin that is supposedly specifically designed for placement in the QCD program plugin file folder, it still failed to acknowledge flac files as valid/viable/existent audio files.

Then I tried out Winamp 5.541 and figured out (correct me if I'm wrong - especially for the sake of those reading this) that Winamp is not currently capable of applying its Easy-Tagger feature for flac files.

I'd like to know why the aforementioned scenario regarding QCD didn't work out; I placed the flac plugin into the "plugins" sub-folder. Does anyone know what I should do, if anything, to render a solution?

p.s. hopefully, Jazz Man figured out a way, as it seems that he was able to do this with Winamp (current version; same).
