Merging seperate mp3 files without transcoding?

Just recently purchased a mp3 cd player..however it puts gaps (2 seconds or more) between tracks. I have a set of files that sounds best if played back without gaps (plays okay in winamp/foobar) My only solution for this is to make one large mp3 from the seperate mp3 files. I don't have the original cd so I can't re-rip. I'm just wondering if there is a way to do this without transcoding back to mp3 again? I tried searching for similar topics (no answers though)

*I highly doubt this is possible*

edit#2 just to add insult to injury the files are all lame vbr -aps

Try stripping the ID3 tags and concatenating the files.  It may work in your case.  It may not.  But it's easy to do.

I'm fairly sure this won't work..just tried it out now This append function does not work.

The manual says: For compiling files in any arrangement use 'Append selection...'. Your selection will be appended to the choosen file. But do not to combine different formats. Type, mpeg version, layer, bitrate, samplerate... must match. The program does NOT check this.

I knew vbr was going to be a problem.

Update: Believe it or not but EncSpot Pro (2.0 build 397) has a merge function that actually works, problem solved

Give musiCutter a shot. Version 0.7.1 has both "cut" and "join" functions, and this software is fairly simple to use.

Even Better! This is the easiest and best app for this. ( took all of 5 seconds) Thanx  B)

Edit: mp3wrap looks like a better way to go if one needs to split the tracks again
