Nero 8

I've googled and searched the board but cannot find the answer.

When I burn using Nero 8, I always end up with the last song of the album first and the first song second.  I make sure that the order is correct each time before burning but the end result is always as described above.

If this has been talked about before, can someone guide me to that thread and if not, can someone tell me what might be going wrong and how I might remedy the problem?

Thanks,

Comet

Has anyone ever heard about this problem or have any extrapolations they can offer?

Thanks

What exactly do you mean with "I make sure that the order is correct"? When you add the files, do they appear correctly sorted in Nero and the resulting CD is wrong or do you face the problem when adding files to the project? Maybe a step-by-step description of what exactly you are doing, and what the outcome is would be helpful.

Hello Sebastian:

For instance, I'll rip an audio disc using EAC.  I will then open up Nero and bring the entire ripped album over.  I then confirm that the order of this particular album (its songs) is correct before I burn.  I then find out (after burning) that the finished burned disc is in the order as I described above, which is not the way it appeared in Nero before I burned it.

Thanks

Hello Sebastian:

The version that you say is the latest one for Nero is the one that I have - I just confirmed it.

My computer has the Vista operating system and is powered by the intel Core 2 duo, if that helps at all.  I'm using the latest EAC version and I'm ripping using WAVE format instead of FLAC.

Thanks,

Comet

This is no NERO error. The windows selection box flip the first and last File when multiple files are selected.

Hello .halverhahn:

Just to confirm with you, this order problem occurs even if I rip a single album and then burn only it.

Can you explain to me what you mean when you say: "The windows selection box flip the first and last File when multiple files are selected." and do you have a remedy for this?

Thanks,

Comet, if you say that Nero displays the tracks in the correct order but burns them incorrectly, then I think you are not affected by the Windows problem. The thing is that the Browse for File dialog of Windows returns an array of file paths selected. In some Windows versions, the first index of the array contains the last selected file and only the second index contains the actual first selected file.

Thanks Sebastian.  Do you have any suggestions that I might try to remedy my probem?  Maybe you have a couple of paths that I could try.

Thanks,

Comet

@Comet: Try dragging the files one at a time to Nero. This should avoid the Windows bug.

Thanks pdq, I'll give that a try and let you know later on.  Thanks again.

Very quick reply (I should be back later) - I have Nero 7 and this bug has been irritating me for a couple of years.  I thank you for telling me that I will gain nothing by upgrading to Nero 8!

I think the bug is actually a Windows problem, but all I do is drag the first track down to the end and all is well.  I only have the problem when creating an audio CD from WAV files, which I have previously tagged with dBpoweramp.  Because the files/tracks are already tagged I do not get confused, but it is very annoying.

I've found dragging one file at a time to the compilation window for a "quick" burn to be the best method, other than a very simple cue sheet.
(I've had a lot of problems with Nero & Cue sheets, I just prefer Burnnnn these days).

Seems like Nero 7 used to keep file/song names intact when dragging better than Nero 8 does - that is I get split or incomplete file names when not using a cue sheet.

All this IMOO, of course.
