I like it...

Found a few things that Spybot didn't
Also like that fact that you can update the reffile from withing Ad-Aware now instead of having to download the new reffile or refupdate individually.

No doubt AdAware rocks.

But shouldn't this have been in offtopic? It isn't exactly audio related.

I don't mean to be ranting. Just curious. I posted the other day about Miranda ICQ 0.2 there.

Minor complaint: their "all done" sound is LOUD. Remember to pop open a wave-editor and mute it, or go to Settings -> Tweak button -> Misc Settings, and uncheck "play sound". Or do both.

I posted it in News b/c there were no stipulations as to what the news items may or may not contain.

Ad-aware 6 fixed my bike, saved my dog from getting hit by a garbage truck and got me 2 million dollars! Thank you Ad-aware 6! Oh and it also detected cydoor and alexa (or something) on my windows and deleted it.

http://security.kolla.de/ - Spybot - Search & Destroy

Always better than Ad-Aware.

Latest Ad-Aware has 4210 signatures.
My Spybot S&D has 5116 signatures.

Good idea is to use both programs. Also immunizer and resident program for Spybot S&D are free.
Spybot S&D has also option to remove history and logs from various programs, native multilanguage support (btw guys, does anyone recognize language "Galego"?), skins, informations about spies - how thye wor etc. There is new version in the making...

Speaking of Adware / Spyware killers, there are other alternatives than just Ad-Aware and Spybot:

BulletProofSoft Spyware Remover
galaxySpy
NetCop System Shield
PestPatrol
Spy Hunter
Spy Remover
Spycleaner
SpywareBlaster
SpywareGuard

Which one is best? Difficult to say, since some have more "features" than just being able to take care of Spyware / Adware. I must say I really like Lavasoft Ad-Aware (their popup killer sucks though) and Spybot, but I also like SpywareBlaster since it does modifications so as to prevent certain types of Spyware etc ever getting on to your computer. I have not tried all the software mentioned above, so I can't say which is the ultimate piece of anti-Spyware / Adware software, but it would be nice to see a review of some sorts or a comparison chart of these programs - anybody know of anything like that?

Latest beta of Spybot has "Immunize" option. It is good enough for me and it is FREE! Lavasoft Ad-Aware with all features costs! For spybot there is also resident scanner... in beta.
