iTunes has burned a DVD with invalid file names

A friend burned me a DVD with some songs he thought I might enjoy. (Note for lawyers: this is with a view to buying the CDs if I like them). He created it with iTunes on his Windows Media Centre PC. Two of the files that were created have invalid names - one has a '?' character, another has a '/' character. I presume these file names were generated from the TITLE tag of the songs. Of course, it's impossible to use these files - whenever any program on Windows tries to open them, or if you try to copy them, the file cannot be found due to the invalid filename. I have two questions:

1. Does anyone know any way to copy these files off the DVD and rename them to something useable?
2. Is this a known bug in iTunes? It strikes me as pretty dumb to have created a DVD with invalid filenames.

I am not sure about a bug but I know iTunes uses an underscore in the filename to represent a question mark.  I think your friend's computer is the problem.  FYI- it doesn't matter what you intended, distributing copyrighted music is still illegal.

You could try to make an iso image of the disk and rename the files with IsoBuster or UltraIso. I did not try such an operation, but it could be just the magic trick.

Thanks very much - UltraIso did the trick!
