deleting songs on foobar

Every time i right click on a song and then click remove it does not go anywhere. I am using various plug ins to make foobar look like itunes including foo_ browser- not foo_tunes though.

Every time i delete a song. I will go on and then come back to that album, and the song will still be there!

Hi, I hope bumping up an old thread is OK. I'm having the same issue, except I was wondering if it is possible to delete songs from your library without deleting them from your hard drive? Or should I just keep all my folders organized?

Thanks

Sure using: Remove file(s) from library. Depending on your configurations that command can be any where in the context menu, I have moved it to another place I can't tell you the default place as I can't remember. But if you only do that and rescan the library later then those files will come back. In that case you should use the "Move, rename, or copy files" of masstagger (this component isn't installed by default, if you don't have foo_masstag.dll in your foobar\components folder then reinstall foobar with Masstagger enabled).

Do what thuan says.

However, remember that if song X is in folder Y along with other songs, and you removed song X from your library, the next time you add folder Y to foobar  (or rescan folder Y), song X will be readded.

Ah I found it, I think the problem was it wasn't on the context menu by default! I thought Remove was the only option...

Cheers!

I have the exact same question that Tom does--how to "remove from library" like in WinAmp.  I know that it will re-appear if I scan again later, but the option is nice.  Tom, where did you find the command?

Go to Preferences- Display- Context Menu, then right click at the top and select insert item-command, then scroll down to Remove File(s) from Library, about halfway down. If you want to make a keyboard shortcut it's under [context].

So I right click on something in the library, click "remove from library", but it's still there--I take it I have to "refresh"?

Hmm it usually automatically refreshes for me. Maybe that's just when you're using the browser. If they're still there after you refresh, make sure you've got "Remove File(s) From Library" and not "Remove" in the context menu.

What's the simplest way of deleting files and their folder?

I'm going to have to ressurect this thread because i have a problem deleting files to the recycle bin.

When i right click a track and select "File operations > Delete file" I click yes to continue and another window comes up saying "Could not delete 1 file out of 1"

I'm using windows 7 64bit and am running under an admin account. I have checked that file i wanted to delete has "Write" permissions under the folder it's in.

I'm now stumbled on what to do. Ideas?

I guess the file is currently playing, therefore opened by foobar2000 at the moment.
Full-quoting makes you scroll past the same junk over and over.

Nope, any file in the playlist will not delete =(.

I've installed the Foonight 1.1c

Doesn't it have the Read Only attribute?

Nope it wasn't read only. I also tested with a read only attribute and that didn't change anything, still wouldn't delete. In the security settings the permissions for the admin is read and write. I can delete it fine in windows explorer so i'm not sure why foobar can't.

Fixed: I had to right click foobar and click "Run as Administrator". To make it auto run you just go to properties of foobar icon and click advanced> run as admin and it should automatically do run foobar as admin.

Anyone have an answer to this?
I want to delete the music files, all other files in the folder and also the folder itself.
This is useful for upgrading bitrates to new copies.
Thanks

right click item in playlist, select "Open containing folder". delete files/folders in explorer.
