Don't trust everything you read on e-bay....go to Apple.com, cnet.com or other trusted 3rd party sites.

That person selling the iPod is mistaken.  Apple first released the 5G (fifth generation) iPod back in the fall of 2006.  This was the first iPod that had video playback capabilities.  Apple then simply updated the 5G iPods by coming out with the 5.5G models in both the 30GB and 80GB sizes while the 5G were released in the 30GB and 60GB flavors.  ANY 80GB iPod is a 5.5G model.

The only difference between the 5G and 5.5G models are that the 5.5G models have a 30% brighter backlight and have a built-in search feature.  Other than that, they are both the same.

The 6G iPod probably won't be released until fall of 2007, unless Steve Jobs gets upset and pulls it at the last minute.

Hi ryssen, ebay sure is a good place to find bargains. However, there are a lot of sellers who seem to be complete idiots (ediots?) when they list specs of the things they are selling. A lot of them do not really know much about the product and sometimes you can see fantastic claims made for this or that product.

I always make sure to research on any good deal I find at various 3rd party sites to find opinions of people who really know what they are talking about.

Cheers,

Well, they get a fee for every auction put up.

I especially get frustrated when I want to sell some legit CDs or DVDs, yet you have to compete against illegal bootleg versions selling for a few dollars, they just don't seem to care.

kornchild2002 is correct about the iPod. No version 6. Limited differences between 5G and 5.5G.

Life is and always has been "buyer beware". Some sellers do it on purpose. Creative marketing.
I love the sellers who act dumb to let the buyer think they are getting a steal of a deal.

People have sold things like this long before eBay. Just because there is a new internet way of selling doesn't mean it's a specific person's responsibility to protect the buyers. Or sellers for that matter. At least eBay tries to do something. Walk into a regular store and you're on your own to fight about whatever it is you thought you bought. When Best Buy first opened in our area, I bought and item that turned out I could not use. I tried to return it less than 48 hours later, unopened, and they refused. I even spoke with a vice president and he said, "we don't care, it's our policy". Needless to say, I told everyone to make sure if they shop there to be careful. Since then BB has changed their attitude and policy.

5.5G models have longer battery life.
