Chaintech AV-710 PCI Sound Card 7.1 24-BIT Optical

Would that be a good choice for the setup i have. Which is just a set of logitech z5300's. I don't have a use for digital out (where i heard this card shines at).so i was wondering if this would still be an ideal card to compliment my logitech z5300's?

Well, only the 6/7 channel Wolfson DACs are special. The other DACs are cheap ones. You can get the front channel out of the 6/7 without switching to the annoying high sample rate mode if you use an older driver, but the default stereo, center/sub and first pair of rear L/R outputs are poor. Also, several users have stated their dislike for the gaming performance and recommend an X-Fi (which has more expensive DACS, either Burr-Brown or Wilson if I remember correctly) for that purpose instead. In conclusion, it'll work but not shine. I'd get the X-Fi (no Audify or SoundBlaster), or, if you don't like Creative (I don't particularly care for them either), an M-Audio or Terratec multichannel card.

(Also Creative's EAX is better for gaming.)

Well, also che Hercules Fortissimo IV has decent DACs on all the outputs.
And it's quite cheap.
