Stereo recording

i got a microphone headset (rather modest for online phones) and either the headphone and mic have a 3.5mm stereo plug, how to record my guitar music in stereo ?
I use SB live value & external Live 24bit
or i need something else?

More, it seem that the L R balance slide switch of Microphone in the volume control is disabled, how to enable the slide switch?

That means you're dealing with mono.  Just because you have stereo (two headphones) doesn't mean the mic is recording stereo.

I personally would recommend an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 card. You can't record your guitar directly via a line-in. The signal will be extremely weak due to impedance and other factors. You are going to need a pre-amplifier. M-Audio also sells those for recording too:D. Consider picking up a sequencer or multitrack recording software in the process. You could probably use open source software like Audacity.

Mic is mono; line-in is stereo.  On my sound card I record stereo through the line-in.
