wacky encoder you posted there ivan, i just tried to encode file at 20kbps, and it comes out with this awful sounding 9kbps file, and it was in stereo! lol might need to work on it

hmm, it seems the only mode that works correctly on it is vbr mode.

Notice that in this build for the test *only* the "Streaming :: Medium" with LC-AAC which produces about 128-133kbps average with ABR coding is tweaked and ready for the test using our new generation codec core.

So, if you want low bitrates, you should use the official version from the Nero installation.

ok, one question, when i was replacing the files, i stupidly forgot to backup the old libmmd.dll, is it the same one as in the rar? if not can someone provide me with the one from the nero version as i deleted it when copying files over. thanks

sorry for so many questions, but does 4.2.1.0 have a WORKING 16kbps mode? i cannot for the life of me get it to work always throws me a decode error

Nero 7 HE-AAC seems to encode properly down to 24kbps.  No luck with 16kbps here.  BTW,  24kbps with PNS isn't much to get excited about

Just for those that are wondering....All of the higher bitrate LC profiles work properly with the beta codec....

I am using it and have been ripping files to LC-AAC : Transparent [110-150Kb] with great results....
Just an average nerd!

yes, especially since it isnt compliant with ARM processor, my mobile's wont play it properly, but they can play 3gpp HE-AAC....i got it to work all the way down to 20kbps with PNS and playing on computer, it is listenable, but if only it was compliant...

Nero is 100% compliant with the ISO standard. Apparently your phone is not or is buggy, or only supports a subset or... we need more information.

The kind of processor has nothing to do with it - and Nero HE-AAC definetely plays on ARM devices.

@Audioflex,

Thanks for your info - actually, ARM processor has nothing to do with your phone not being able to play our HE-AAC files,  as we have FAAD2 working on ARM and perfectly playing these files.

Maybe it has something to do with the 3GP vs. MP4 containers - it would be great if you could please:

* Send us the info about your phone (model)
* Send us the 3GP file that works, and MP4 file that does not work

Many thanks in advance!

Only thing currently on my mind is that 3GPP files contain explicit SBR signalling to make decoder a little bit simplier, while Nero generates implicit SBR signalling  (note, both of these are allowed by the MPEG-4 standard)

But that is what we will find out if you send us the files

3gp Reference encoder produce AAC in 3gp container - it's very close to mp4 container (Nero does mp4) but is not the same!
Just remux nero mp4 to 3gp using mp4box

Just one question for the Nero devs here: wasn't Nero 7 going to be "updatable" via small downloads instead of having to download the whole thing?

i had to download entire 100mb package, slightly dissapointed in this, nero wave editor is not the same, i cannot find preset folder and lost all my old presets, i can rework them, but it is frustrating haveing to work on them again.
