General weirdness on AllMusic.com...

I just stopped by AllMusic.com to check an entry for a song by Blossom Toes, and after entering the song title ("Peace Loving Man," which sounds remarkably like a prototype "Iron Man") in the search field, I received the following message:

Through traffic monitoring of our websites we have identified your IP address accessing allmusic.com at a rate and speed inconsistent with the noncommercial and personal use permitted by our site's Terms of Service. As a result, further access to allmusic.com has been denied. Because IP addresses can be shared by numerous users, your access may be being denied based on the aggregate use of your IP address rather than your own individual use. To ensure that this is not the case, simply create your own individual user account by becoming a Registered Member of allmusic. [Click on the “Register” button in the upper right hand corner of the home page.] Once you’ve become a Registered Member and are logged in, you will once again have full access to allmusic, and will continue to have access, as long as your usage remains consistent with our Terms of Service. If you are already a Registered Member of allmusic, simply ensure that you are logged in when you use the site. Thank you.

What the flying fudge are they smoking? I hit the "back" button in my browser, re-submitted the request, and it went through without a hitch. And no, I am not - nor do I have any plans of becoming - a "registered member."

Oh no, not those ppl at AMG again! Don't they realize we don't have time for that bs about traffic and IP addresses, that we want information? And to have the impudence to suggest we should submit them a valid email address and "register"!

If I were you, M, I'd demand my money back.

AMG had a nice site until they "redesigned" it.  Now it's crap, and incredibly slow.

I registered anyway, it didn't cost anything.  I used one of those temporary Yahoo email addresses.  If they ever start sending me junk (they haven't so far), I'll just disable it.

They don't send junk - they have a weeklyish optional newsletter and that's it. I've had the odd speed issue but it was just as bad before it was redesigned (although I must admit I prefered the look of the old one).

Is there any really good website that has a complete catalog of everything?

I had the same problem with Google.  I got a message that I had done too many searches...blah blah blah.  I wrote them an email telling them the only possible explanation that I had was that my cat could have fallen asleep on the F5 key.    They said I searched several million times for nothing.  I told them that seemed pretty unlikely to me.

As of yet I am the only person I know of that has been banned from Google.  (they reallowed me almost immediately)
