Nokia 6230 File Layout, aac with id3v1 tags

Howdy.

The 6230 is unfortunately a little dumb, it doesnt understand m4a but only aac, and then only ID3V1 tags in those aac files. Also, the MMC browser doesnt really display a lot of letters of the files on the card.

So, to easily access single music on the go, I want the following directory layout on my MMC: Artist/Title.aac. Something around 80 kpbs vbr aac sounds about right for portable usage to my ears.

And all those aac files must obviously have ID3V1 (and not APE) tags, otherwise the nokia 6230 music player app wont index them properly.

The question of all questions now is... how to convert an existing and properly tagged (id3v1+2) mp3 database to this directory structure and tagging requirements? with maxgain too, since the 6230 is a little on the low side, volumewise.

mp3tagtools is nice for dir structure, dbPoweramp is nice for conversion & maxgain. but then id3v1tags would be missing in the aac files.

any clues? a mostly automated solution would be appreciated

joe.

I use mp3tag.

It converts filenames to tags. You can write APE and ID3v1 together and it's read properly by my Nokia 6230.

6230b doesn't understand id3v2 tags?
