Sound Jittering

hi guys,

everytime i play any sort of music, i get this extremely irritating, jittering, continuously throughout every track and i was wondering if any of you may be able to identify what it may be and perhaps even give me some pointers as to how to rectify this problem.

i have uploaded a sample excerpt from "mason williams - classical gas" to serve as an example.
The file is called "ENC008.MP3" http://www.geocities.com/cyanidespillromania/images/

i recorded this sample with my Iaudio m3 through the linout feature on my integrated ga-7vrxp sound card (creative soundblaster pci128 ct5880) with the latest drivers from the gigabyte support site.

i did a search on the HA forums and the closest thing i could find was "clipping", so i tried disabling the unecessary volume controls in the volume control in the system tray and reducing my 'master volume' and 'wave volume' to less than 20% and still no difference.

Computer Specs:
amd xp2000 (underclocked xp1700), ga-7vrxp mobo, 512ddrpc2100, cyberdrv 16x,12x,40x, lite-on 16xdvd, 1.44fdd, 80g maxtor 7200rpm hdd, 250w psu, 64mb radeon 8500le, winfast tv2000 deluxe, nic 10/100mbps,

Operating System: Windows 2000

OK, does it sound OK in the original?  Are your connections between hardware pieces secure?  What did you use to encode it with?  I would try recording it with fb2k - I think it will work for that - anmd see how that works.  If that fails, take two aspirin and call me in the morning.  No, no, that last part is a joke.

Check your connections.

Maybe I'm wrong, but "sounds" like a problem of the VIA chipset...have you tried any VIA latency patches?

yes my connections between my various hardware components are all secure; i've tried two different setups, atm i am lineout (with the aid of one of those 1/8"stereo-rca adapters) straight into a stereo via rca cable  (stereo mainly used as an amp for more power) which has speakers attached. i have also tried connecting my computer (also with the aid of one of those 1/8"stereo-rca adapters) into a set of computer speakers (2speakers and a sub) to no avail.
The original files are all fine, ive got copies of them on my portable device and they work flawless there.
Maybe it is a problem of the 'via chipset', im not quite sure what a latency patch is, but i presume its something to do with they 4in1 hyperion drivers. The only via stuff ive dled is the VIA_Hyperion 4in1_v455vp1.zip that being the hyperion 4in1 Version - 455vp1; ill  try downgrading to the 4in1 v4.51 provided on the gigabyte site, maybe it's more compatible or something.

On another note, i might add that it not only applies to the music but to the computer as a whole. When u hear those wierd noises my computer is like stalling momentarily. In other words that thing happens no matter what task u do, just that its more noticable when listening to music; a good example of this is when u start up windows (it screws up the windows theme intro).
