AAC will never go into AVI (due to its VBR nature)...but It could go into Ogg. But because the filters aren't opensource I dont use OGM/Ogg so I won't re-write the filter...

Perhaps MCF, NSIS' or MP4 will be the answer for movies with AAC when they become popular (well, obviously the last one...  )

Cheers,

Have you tried to use GraphEdit and mux it manually? With adding a wav header before muxing, it should work then, but I wouldn´t do that, because the file even when it is play/seekable maybe not compatible with future AAC Decoders.

When we can make MPEG4 compatible "Backups", it will be a big day to aac, but heck, the problem isnt aac, is the video codec that ain't supported by MPEG4IP tools, but i heard its in the works

You can find builds of MPEG4IP at RareWares: http://www.inf.ufpr.br/~rja00/
There is also an MPEG4IP-based windows-tool "mp4UI" that is easier to use (no CLI), you can download it at: http://www.mediacruiser.de/mp4UI/

Really? Also when you deactivate b-frames and use "DIVX" as FourCC?

I think MPEG4IP is using the xvid decoder currently.
At least there's a plugin directory called xvid in CVS. The xvid lib in the mpeg4ip CVS dates 8.3.2002. Maybe they just added that recently, I'm not sure.

in the mean time, it would be cool to be able to mux aac to ogm for that subtitle and chapter support, but hell, ogg ds filter has been static for a while, and since nic wont rewrite his filter to comply with ogm, we are doomed to for mp4 (maybe a year  )

I mailed with Tobias a few days ago, he will release the next version soon, he wants to implement Theora (just passing the data to the On2-Truemotion-Filter) and support for ShoutCast/IceCast. And some minor bugfix.
