RadioRipper v1.0 Released!

Hi everyone, I'm proud to anounce the first release of RadioRipper v1.0, an Internet radio broadcast timeshifting application.  You can find more information at http://www.radioripper.net/.

Version 1.0 features:
Winamp integration * SHOUTcast/MP3 support * Track splitting * Lossless digital recording * Playlist generation * Smart track naming * Login/password authentication * Parallel stream recording * Graphical user interface * Advanced logging for stream reconstruction

Version 1.1 upcoming features:
Minimize to System Tray * Station list loading/saving * Local stream relay * User interface improvements * Recording at startup * Options dialog

So this is like StreamRipper but with more advanced features? This could be some very useful software! 

UPDATE: I've tried out the latest version (1.0a) but I seem to be experiencing constant crashes. Is this a known issue?

Me too - this could relate to early version (1.0a) - so it is for sure not tested with all possible sound-cards / other related HW / Software and DX-Filters etc ...

I'm sure that v1.1 will bring some corrections for that one too ...

Which sound-card do you have - i do have Creative Audigy 2 Platinum Pro with all the latest updates and drivers...

I remember once when i installed same kind of radio-ripper app before. It made a 'pseudo sound card' #2 to my SW without even telling that in readme's and after that one most of the DX-based audio apps stopped to work or crashed (like all InterVideo's apps - WinDVD4 recorder, WinDVD5, WinDVR3 etc ...)
(I uninstalled it ASAP and was happy with Creative's own implementation + MMJB & RealOne)

Have to check, that this is NOT the issue this time also!

\Added : i was first wrong : i had DL'd v1.0 - now i do have 1.0a (no more crashes) and i'm just now ripping "D I G I T A L L Y - I M P O R T E D - European Trance..." and all seems to go well - real bitrate / imported KB's are shown fine!

One beg : could it (next version?) create a log for menu to see what is ripped instead / parallel of dblclicking the station line and looking it in windows folders and maybe a setting where the imported tracks are put (most important for me, because i have so small system / programs partition and want to keep my basic apps there), a save for favorites (oh, that one is promised already) etc basic functions (am i asking too much for v1.1?)...?

One of they key distinctions between RadioRipper and StationRipper/StreamRipper is that RadioRipper was written from scratch and is in no way based off of the StreamRipper core.  This has a few huge advantages, the first being that there is tighter quality control as we have an intricate knowledge of the workings of all parts of the code.  The developer working on RadioRipper has several years of experience working for one of the largest software corporations in the world and has worked on numberous other projects ranging from Nintendo emulators, to enterprise database engines, to high speed search engines.  RadioRipper was designed starting from the software architecture, such that there are few points of failure, high uptimes, and most importantly, a high level of security.  For those that are technically inclined, one of the things that we will be introducing in the next version (1.0c) is a socket thread pool, which will enable streams to record with even less cpu overhead.  In addition, if one analyses the RadioRipper executable, one will find that there are no linkages to external helper libraries such as MFC.  This should help to show that we are committed to technical excellence with respect to software, as well as excellence with respect to usability and features.

I'd rather like he fixed the code so that the program actually starts. I've just installed it on a fresh windows 2000 install(from yesterday), and I don't even get to seing the window, as I get an error message straight away. Too bad, I'll stick to Streamripper/StationRipper.

I'm not sure about the security issues - the streamripper stuff is open source, has been around for years and has a lot of people going through the code.  as does streamripper32 and stationripper.  Is RadioRipper going to be open source? What makes it more secure?

Also not sure about stability - haven't had any probs with tha with those other apps.  And I normally run 30 or so rips with stationripper and it barely touches the CPU (well, it DOES suck down bandwidth).

anway.  glad to see yet another way to rip.  stick it to those RIAA bastards!

pierugg, If you could please specify what the error message is we will be happy to address it.  One of the difficulties with new software is guaranteeing it will run on every possible configuration.  If you are getting a dialog about your browser not being detected, this is because you have disabled DDE within Windows, (either by installing another shell which doesn't support this or your registry settings for the HKCR\HTTP key are most likely corrupt).
