Mono files only play in left channel

Happens with local files and streams alike, not sure if it's intentional. In the mean time I'm using the mono to stereo DSP.

Cheers

i think the mono to stereo dsp creates double-mono (left and right) output

Yes, (it solves the problem)

I'm saying that mono files should surely be played through all available output channels, even if there is only one input channel.

Perhaps you need the message from KS output config page written on your forehead ?

I'm tempted to write a big F*** YOU all over your forehead mate 'cause recently you seem to have adopted quite a nasty attitude towards the people who may just be trying to help. But I won't.

I was using DS2 and have been for as long as I can remember. I can guarantee you that this is happening with DirectSound 1, 2, WaveOut AND KS.

As it happens it seems I don't understand my AP 24/96 drivers very well, because mono files play through both channels when I use the 1/2 out as opposed to the multi out, so I apologise there.

Please though, for the sake of everyone, it doesn't take any more effort to post something helpful instead of something condescending.

If you want constructive replies, start with posting full system specs and settings you use, like you just did.
As far as I'm aware of, all of people reporting "mono files playing only in left channel" before were using KS output.

I am experiencing this behavior (mono mp3 + wav only play through left channel) with the latest stable build (.8) with ALL driver types (waveout, Directsound 1 & 2, and KS) and all driver output settings (multichannel mixer or 1/2 out).  I am using a M-Audio Delta-44 4-port audio card which functions perfectly otherwise (in foobar and other apps), on a Pentium 4 running Windows 2000.

Does this also happen when using other players?

No; other software (Winamp, Wavelab, Sonar) all play mono files just fine.

Are you using 24 bit output? Does it do the same thing when you use 16 bit?

Aha, switching to 16 bit output in the main Playback config page causes the mono clips to play properly through both channels.

AKA driver bug.
