Nice Product (IRiver IMP-150)

I was considering this because my cd player is 4+ years old and its about to crap out (10 second antishock to about zip zero). Also, I think it would be convienent to have an mp3/cd player all in one... ...although I DO have a 15GB iPod... what do ya guys think? Should I Buy it? Prices range from about 60 bucks to 100 bucks.
heres a pic:

We have bought several mp3/cd players in the 49-69.00 price range. They all seem to be basically the same, the cosmetics are the only differences between them. They do alright, but they seem a bit fragile. They all have the same "clip" opener at the front to flip open the top to load the cd as the one you pictured.
you will make mp3's for compatibility reasons.

I have that CD player myself.
I like it very much.
I like that it runs on AA bateries, you need not to worry about going out of power. Battery life is very good,
It has a very good sound quality (all iRiver's do)
Has upgradeable firmware and a chance for Vorbis support (I don't know if that's important to you).
It's a little on the "big" side, I mean it is definitely not the slimmest and more portable player you can find, but is cheap and sturdy.
It has a remote control, but the display is on the unit. This can be either good or bad, depending on your preferences.
Plays LAME VBR perfectly.
It is a very good choice.
You might want to take a comparative look at the iRiver SlimX which is another favorite of this forum. It is slimmer, more cool looking, I had one of those but battery life sucked.
I'm the one in the picture, sitting on a giant cabbage in Mexico, circa 1978.

If you would like to use Ogg Vorbis as a portable audio format, do not buy the IMP-150. As you can read here it will most probably not be implemented for that player due to hardware limitations.

I have the older version of that player, the Rio Volt SP100 ( = iRiver imp-100). From what I read, the imp-150 is the same thing with a better display and more durable remote. I think it's great and use it so often that I bought a second one on ebay so I'd have a spare.  I say go for it unless ogg is important, if you want ogg look at the imp-550, but I prefer the AA batteries and display on the unit design of the imp-100 & imp-150.

(amazon.com had the imp-150 for $60 and free shipping the last time I checked)

I have only had my IMP-150 for approx. two months, and it has already started skipping on CD-RWs, even on a flat, stable surface. I had been hearing about this problem from other IMP-150 owners before I bought the product, but I decided to gamble on avoiding it. There are apparently many satisfied owners of the IMP-150, so I am guessing that this problem cannot be very widespread. However, I do think that it is a risk worth considering.

You can count 1 more really happy iMP-150 owner. I have had it for over half a year, and it works still just as new. The best for the price.
