XA FILES 352/37800hz to 320/41000hz mp3?

So that type of files is related to a lot of ps1 games.

When a rip from the og source material i only got  320/32000hz. Is worth it to try another method?

If your target really is that high bitrate MP3 you may want to use a resampler DSP before encoding and resample the files to 44.1 kHz. Allowing the MP3 encoder to downsample the files will not only remove all frequencies above 16 kHz from the originals, but it will also mean that transient handling gets worse as frames become longer. And since you have so high bitrate, you don't need to make any bit saving compromises there.

so this is the limit that i can get from the og source? A higher sample rate of the og source can affect the quality in a negative way? or its just something like a threshold?

The biggest frequency limit comes from the source format. PCM sampling can store frequencies up-to half of the sampling rate, so the limit for 37.8 kHz XA format is 18.9 kHz. MP3 probably considered the little content above 18 kHz not worth including to save bits for more audible parts.
Higher sampling rate will not harm the quality in your case. It could if your aim was to use as low bitrate as possible. When you have limited amount of bits you want to use them as wisely as possible. If your bitrate was below 128 kbps then you might want to allow lower sampling rate than 44.1 kHz.
