How To Rip SACDs to DSD files?

I have a SACD of NIN the downward spiral (2008 Deluxe Edition Remaster) and I want to rip the SACD layer. It's the only SACD I have. Can CUERipper do that?

CUERipper can rip a 16-bit, 44.1kHz, stereo CD.

The obstacle with ripping SACDs is generally the hardware, not software. They won’t rip in any computer drive. The original method was to use certain old Sony PS3 gaming consoles that had SACD drives and install special firmware on them (assuming they hadn’t been updated to later firmware that made this impossible).

Since then a newer method has been available that involves running a custom script on certain models of Blu-ray players (none of which are still in production, but can be purchased used pretty cheaply) which allows you to capture an ISO file over the network interface. I have done this and it works great.

You can Google “ripping sacds” to get al the gory details, but probably none of this is worth it for one SACD. Perhaps you can buy the tracks somewhere, maybe in hi-res PCM?

I guess the point about the SACD version would be the multi-channel remix. Luckily: apparently that is the same mix as the DVD edition that was released the same time (10th anniversary edition - does not match the OP's "2008" date, but looking it up it must have been that one.)

According to https://musicbrainz.org/release/a84b419b-02e9-32e9-afe0-c03b6f02d5c4 , the DVD has DVD-A content and DVD-V content.

Edit: Oh, and the SACD had a bonus disc. But ... rip the CD layer.

OK, then actually: if you don't have the hardware to rip it - one of those PS3s or Blu-Ray players - then it might be a better idea to get it in PCM.

DSD isn't really well suited for consumers, it spits lots of ultrasonic noise down your playback chain. Hardware SACD players filter that away in their analog stage. This ripping procedure does not. (Converting to say, 48 kHz PCM will filter it away. But then, going by way of DSD is an unnecessary step.)
