Foobar makes beeping sounds during the playback of some flac

Foobar makes beeping sounds with some Flac radio streams when the playback is struggle.

How can I deactivate / switch off the extremely annoying short beeping sounds in foobar ???

I use the newest Foobar Version with Asio, 64 bit.

This is likely some kind of Windows "system sound" for errors, etc. rather than coming from Foobar.  Try turning them all off and see what happens.

Thank you for the hint.

It is not Windows Server Config, there is all Ok,. Its not my first Installation of Foobar on Server with Matrix DSP :-)

Older / other  of foobar Installations works perfect.

It's especially the actual ASIO!

If i use for testing the actual ASIO 2.2.3 on foobar v2 it's the same effect as with foobar v2.4.1, same beeping with some flac radiostreams.

If i use the ASIO 2.0.0 / 2.1.2 with old foobar v2 everything is fine.

But when using ASIO 2.2.3 with Foobar V. 2.4.1 short beep tone is there when stream strugles.

Its clearly a foobar / asio matter!

Of course Matrix DAC was meant in the last post :-)

If your ASIO drivers give you unwanted noises, why do you use ASIO?

#Case:

I don't really understand your question:

The current Foobar with the current ASIO version causes the beep on some, not all, flac webradio streams which have dropouts.

Not all Foobar and ASIO versions cause the error !

If your car has a defect, do you also look for the error and don't just drive a bicycle from now on or do you? :-)

Therefore your question does not help with the problem.

#all:

Maybe it can be clarified why the current Foobar with ASIO makes the beep sounds with webradio flacstreams which have streaming problems and above all how this can be switched off in foobar !
Quite simply.

foobar2000 doesn't beep. If there is beeping happening with ASIO it's not coming from foobar2000.

It is certainly from Foobar with the current Asio.

The Windows server no longer has any sound components, neither hardware nor software, and runs very well.

As I said, it is only with the current versions

Older Foobar versions and ASIO run well, all other programs on the market also without problems!

I don't know what makes you think that it's not related to Foobar...

There are some problems with Foobar that have not been completely solved until today, many users also have freezing interfaces with unbearable annoying noises for about 10 seconds when quickly switching between different web radio streams... But that's a different problem and not mine, now.

The problem only occurs when the new Foobar/Asio combo loses the webstream, older versions and other programs can handle it without a beep!

I stand corrected, there have been more changes to ASIO than the changelogs detail. Starting with ASIO output component v2.2 if there is no input data the component will keep looping some tiny buffer causing buzzing that can sound like a beep when short enough. I incorrectly blamed ASIO drivers.
As a workaround you can enable the smooth fader option. That seems to stop buzzing, and as an added bonus all volume or playback altering operations that would cause discontinuities and clicks will be smooth and pleasant.

Many thanks for the tip about the workaround!  👍
I will try it out tomorrow at my leisure.

A first try seems to confirm that it works with the option "Smooth Fader".
Strangely , it also seems to work when only Smooth Fade is activated and all Fade In and Fade Out values are set to 0!

Many thanks to you!

I'll give you some more feedback.

Here is my feedback:

The workaround works perfectly.
Thank you very much for your help !

👍

It works as desired.

I would never have had
the idea of trying the smooth fading setting.

Now I can use the program as intended.

For the sake of interest, are you a developer or an ambitious user?

Good to hear you are satisfied with the workaround!

Peter is the only developer. I'm just someone who has been close to development since the days Peter still worked for Winamp.

I overlooked the new ASIO output update from 03.01.2025 to version 2.2.4.

With the update from ASIO output to 2.2.4
it works fine without activated fading.
No more beeps on dropouts with streams and low bandwidth
Thank you !!!  👍
