foobar2000 & wine & drag+drop

i really miss that feature. has anyone managed to drag+drop marked songs from within foobar to a filemanager under linux (mint) or vice versa?

i have not been able to do so, the cursor gets greyed out automatically or files are not added to foobars playlist?

The problem seems to have been introduced in a recent WINE update, and your best bet would be to file it as a bug at winehq

dolphin4 on arch linux still works, while dolphin5 does not, so it's not really a WINE problem. Which filemanager are you using?

@chronosphere: it is indeed latest wine version 1.9.3 & nemo (lm 17.3), that i am using.

wow, so you are really able to drag&drop from fb to filemanager AND vice versa?

i am especially interrested in the first variant (marked songs to nemo).

@k.m. krebs: i have no account over there yet, but it is probably the best place to ask for another nonworking feature:

database monitoring - and an old patch already exists from what i have read: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25265

Correction, updating to 1.9.3 killed drag and drop, both ways. 1.8 works fine, but only dolphin -> fb2k. I never needed the opposite, so I'm not sure it ever worked for me, sorry for false information. I think you should report that.

when you drop files onto foobar, did you also notice that they are never displayed in the playlist on first try?

when this variant still worked here, specially for many files or big playlists, i always had to hold left mb pressed for many seconds, until disk access had finished, so to get them displayed. that was quite an annyoing routine every time, but better than nothing.

can anybody confirm, if dropping songs from foobar to a linux filemanager ever worked? i am desperately in need for this feature.

I will give this a try when I get home.  I use Wine v1.9.x on Ubuntu Studio v14.04.3.
As far as I know earlier versions didn't work with drag n drop either.  But I have trouble remembering.
Be a false negative of yourself!

yes, please do so and report back. it is really important to me.

a new version of columns ui has been released, improving drag and drop behaviour!

that sounded very promsing, as i was still using an outdated version. unfortunately, the issue still remains. so it definitely is related to changes in the wine devel. version.

Have you tried copy/pasting instead? Highlight tracks in playlist>right click>Copy

Then Paste in to whatever file manager.

If you don't see Copy when you right click, hold down Shift first.

hi marc,

that is a good tip, thanks.

i can copy within fb, but when in nemo, paste is greyed out :(

strg+v is also not possible...

wine devel. 1.9.4 is out. did somebody already test if drag+drop is working again?

to answer my question: the issue still persists in wine 1.9.4. i can only hope, the changes to drag+drop, which were introduced in 1.9.0 will get an update, so that it will be functional again in foobar in the future.

curious to see, that it seems to be related to audio tools only. because it is the same problem with mp3tag and xmplay.

in notepad++ for example, drag+drop still works.

I think this is the problem with drag and drop that was introduced with 1.9. Looks like a fix is in the pipeline if it's not already there. (I haven't tried the newest version lately)
