Program which transforms audio file to text file?

Good point. Depending on their style of lecturing, they might have a lot of it already written out. Of course, they might improvise it all… Either way, it’s definitely worth asking as they should be able to support you.

It might also be prudent to tell them how other students treated you badly for your injury. Of course, we don’t want them to stand up in front of the class and say ‘dodo_maia here has been complaining about all of you’  – but if they are aware of the situation, there might be something less overt they could do to stop it happening in the future.

Hello db1985.
Teachers prepare slide shows for use during classes, and building on these presentations they make comments as the comments and questions of the students, then the school does not have much script ends up being the kind of impromptu, and I believe which is very important to have noted these observations, discussions and conversations that happen during class building upon the material presented by the teachers.
This situation is delicate, I feel so inferior and diminished when this happens.
Teachers ask students to respect and try to treat me normal, but the students did not and each student reacts in a different way and that teachers have no control.
Thanks for your help and attention.

Hello my friends ! First I would like to thank the attention and help of all of you .

I am a student , I used to college and take notes during class . Broke his finger and had to immobilize the hand and could no longer write and then I took the splint to immobilize the hand and stayed with some sequels can not write right .

I started recording the lectures and have the audio files in MP3 and now want to turn the audio into text so you can read and study , so the need of a program that transforms the audio file into text.

I searched on google but found only software that transform text to MP3 , or software do I found reading the written text .

Voice recognition software to do just that reading the file in DOC or TXT format. Windows functions are also limited just reading the text.

If someone knows something and can help me I will be very grateful.

Many thanks for the help , attention and time of all

Hello Arnold. Okay?
I tried this feature, but does not work for my language.
I'm in Brazil and speak Portuguese here and when I try to activate this feature, the alert window opens on the screen with the following message:. "Current language does not support speech recognition"
Besides not having support for Brazilian Portuguese, I believe that this function is just to control your computer by voice. Right?
And I'm looking for a program that transforms audio testo, to print and to read and study.
If you happen to know of any function of windows that does this, please let me know.
Thanks for your help and attention.

I'd ask person sitting next to me to share its notes? (sometimes i'am so smart i just can't believe how smart i'am)

Hello smok3. Okay?
Few people have an interest in writing during class.
I like to make notes, but not everyone is like that.
Much of the students in the classroom only attend classes and not write anything, that's the problem. = /
Thanks for your help and attention.

How about talking to the professors, explaining them your situation and asking them for their documents of the lectures?

When I was at college, you could talk to the professor and get someone to take notes for you in lecture.

Hello jarsonic. Okay?
It would be good if it had that possibility in my college, but unfortunately I do not.
Thank you.

How were the recordings made? Software like "Dragon NaturallySpeaking" works best when the speaker is wearing a good-quality headset.

Hello Gecko. Okay?

I used a voice recorder from Sony. The model icd ux523. ( http://www.leaps.ms/Sony%20ICD%20UX523%20R...der%20rs450.jpg )
Not professional, but has an excellent quality and the recordings are in MP3 format.

These software voice recognition, at least those who had contact they serve only to control your computer using your voice, correct Gecko?
Or these programs also make this function to turn MP3 to text file to be printed?

I await your response.

Thanks for the help, attention and for their time.

NOTE - I don't use Dragon Naturally Speaking.  I just know it's popular and has been around for several years.

This page says Brazilian Portuguese is supported.

Easily transform your voice files into text. Transfer your single speaker recorded audio files to your PC or Mac to generate a written transcript using Dragon speech recognition. It's as easy as record, transfer and transcribe.

But it also says:

Dragon is not designed for use with multiple speakers or to transcribe lectures. The software does support the voice writing transcription technique, where the transcriptionist repeats or "parrots" audio from other speakers.

That means you'll probably get better results listening to the recording of the original lecture and repeating what you hear directly into a microphone.  And if you are going to do that, you might as well let the application do the speech recognition on-the-fly, rather than making another "better" recording and trying to convert that audio file to speech.

Please like the indication of a software that transforms audio files into text files,  MP3 in doc file (example Microsoft Word).

Many thanks for the help!

Theoretically it is possible to record your teacher's voice into text in real-time/during the class.
You would have to use bluetooth microphone and put it on the teachers desk (with his permission) or at least have some decent tablet with good audio components and sit in a first row, with the condition that ambient noise coming mostly from colleagues isn't huge , then you would be able to acquire speech with signal to noise ratio good enough for voice recognition software.

This is by far most advanced software solution at the moment:
Dragon Naturally Speaking System

compatible hardware:
compatible hardware

even home version would do the job for you but it does not support bluetooth mic link anyway that might be irelevant so let me explain:

I recommend you to go trough recognition process after the classes, simply continue to record as you already did.

This is more beneficial and more practical for several reasons,(cheaper) you will be able to follow and actively participate during the class, while you are not constrained with the hardware and compatibility issues, and most annoyingly recognition engine training... You can do it on your PC at home. (proven concept)

I would have to emphasize that Dragon Naturally Speaking System, requires training, and in first stages recognition will be with not marginal percentage of errors which you would have to correct manually,  while software learns from this occasions.
(this is annoying phase and software seems useless at this point but show some integrity here, it will pay off latter  )

In order to make it ready for the task I recommend that you train NSS in advance,  which would mean the following procedure:
-first familiarize yourself with the software or ask IT  collages to help you with this
-take recording from like 3 classes and ask someone to retype first 15 mins  from each lesson,
-train NSS engine with that same text from the lessons while you are playing coresponding teacher's voice (connect your tablet/recording device output to pc's audio card input) It might require some rewinding but once you go trough you will have it ready for the task.

Please note that engine training is per professor(per voice), and you would preferably do each recording session from the same position in the class.

Only drawback afterwards (maybe not: "repetitio est mater studiorum") is that you will have to go trough every and each lesson and treat idiosyncrasies on a cognitive way. Don't forget that this is a machine aproach and AI is not there yet

Regards.
