Latest Ipod Classic 7th Gens have different firmware and hardware?

Hi all

I've just recently discovered this....  It was when someone told me that they could remove the EU Vol Limit restriction on their Classic 7th Gen (I cannot on mine) that I dug further and found this out.

There are links at the bottom to these two:

I've had a google and does not seem that this info is all that well known on the net.  Was surprised by all of it, but especially the hardware changes.

Any thoughts from anyone?

Cheers

Max

I doubt there have been any hardware changes this late in the devices life cycle.

Do you think the people in the above links have got it wrong then?

Any ideas how else it is that the newest iPods have 2.0.5 (and the option to remove the EU vol limit), which the next newest are on 2.0.4 and non-updateable?

I also see references to a Classic "4g" here and there. I'm curious.
