The issue I'm having is that my when I press the play/pause button on my keyboard some of the time it registers as to play music (if it's stopped) or stop music music (if it's playing) but for months it seems to 'time out'. If I am playing music (like right now) and I press the stop button it will turn off but then seconds or minutes later it will turn right back on again, if it's not playing music and I press the play button (which also happens to be the pause/stop button) then it will start playing music but then stop playing it after a second or few minutes. You can imagine this is rather annoying. Using Foobar 1.2.6.  Oh and before you suggest another keyboard I tried another of the same keyboard and it did the same thing with that as well.

Do you have the (often crappy) bundled software installed for your keyboard?

Microsoft mouse and keyboard center? Yes I do.

That's likely the problem. foobar2000 is listening to the media keys on its own, and then the crappy driver software is simultaneously sending its own media control events, possibly lagged by seconds or even minutes. Try removing that crap, unless you absolutely can't live without it.

Or, if you haven't already, you can try adding your media keys directly to foobar2000 as global hotkeys. If you have already, try removing them.

For the moment either uninstalling the center or telling foobar to use 'shortcuts' seems to have fixed the issue, we'll see if it sticks.  Perhaps there's something else, when I add music to foobar the numbers they don't always go sequentially in order - 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. . . . . despite that if I open the folder that contains the MP3's they are in order.

Please start another thread with  your numbering problem. It will help search/solution for future users. Thank you.
That's so plausible, I can't believe it.
