How to create sub groups in ELPlaylist

Hey!

I'm kind of new to foobar2000 and trying to set up my configuration.
I would like to have an 'Album List Panel' like view of the currently playing playlist. There should be listed all Artists that are in the playlist, so I can remove whole Artists or only single Albums from the playlist.
I thought about using a very simple ELPlaylist in addition to my NGPlaylist, but I just can't break it down that much...

I hope you get what I mean.

I use ColumnsUi if its important.

Thanks!

It can.

Select the playlist Press control+A to highlight all the files.
Then right-click->Utils->Make Album List View of selected items

If that  menu item is not there then you'll probably need to add it in preference->Context menu

Any idea how to make the ELPlaylist so simple, that it only contains Groups of Artists containing the Album names?

Like that:
Code: [Select]
+Artist 1
- Artist 2
   +Album 1
   +Album 2
   - Album 3
      Track 1
      Track 2
      [...]
   +Album 4
+Artist 3

edit:
@shakey_snake: Looks quite good, but I can't remove Items direcly from that list, I think.

Not sure what you like to achieve: If you want to remove from active plalist some tracks with help of album list so use foo_utils. This component adds a command "remove from playlist".

I would like some sort of panel, that represents my playlist in another way.

My Playlist is a listing of Tracks sorted by albums.
If I wanted to remove all tracks of one specific Artist, I would have to select the first track, scroll down to the last track, select it with the shift key and hit delete.
A panel which lists all Artists and their Albums of my (selected) Playlist in an explorer like list would be very comfortable. I could just select the Artist (or single Albums) and hit delete.

At the moment I'm trying to configurate the ELPlaylist to list like that, but I don't really get the scripting language that is being used there...
Everything I select in ELPlaylist is selected in my NGPlaylist, so this could very much do the trick. I just can't simplify it enough...

I hope you all can follow...

edit: Or is it possible to collapse/expand groups in NGPlaylist? The grouping is a lot easier in the settings there.

NoST,

there is no panel that displays the content of your active playlist in another way.
To sum up the thread: All you need to achieve your goal exists - don't be so fixed on a panel.
Just create an albumlist view of your selection or your whole playlist then select some nodes inside this albumlist view and last but not least right-click and "remove from playlist" (foo_utils). That's it!

Hmm, well it's not my kind of "workflow", but if there's no way...
Is it possible to to create sub groups in ELPlaylist or is there only one layer of collapsable groups?

Thanks for the help anyways!

Ah shame on me, you learn something every day o.0

Has anyone an idea how to display only the Albums grouped by Artists in ELPlaylist?
That would be everything I need to make it work.

No matter what I type into the group settings of this component, the tracks are always displayed.

I would like to have only this:

Code: [Select]
-Artist (Group)
Album1
Album2
Album3

No tracklisting...
Is that possible?

^not possible. you can collapse the group headers but you can't have sub groups.

use a library viewer such as album list to view your collection like you're suggesting.

You can. Put for example the following into the group format:
Code: [Select]
%album artist% ||| %album%

I've taken the liberty to move and rename this topic since the OP seems quite insistent that he wants an ElPlaylist-based solution.

Doesn't only concern the sub-groups, but okay!
I'm open to any solution, but it only seems possible with ELPlaylist at the moment.

Two pictures to clearify my situation (I used '%artist% ||| %album%' here):

The problem is I don't understand the scripting language, that is used in the script-register in the settings.
The whole layout is writen down there. Is there any documentation on that? I didn't find anything...
Or is here someone who could write that?

Don't worry about that! Me and the great majority neither!
It is finally your decision to prefer easy solutions over headache or not.

Yeah, if there is an easy solution to my problem, I would use that one of course...
I managed to break it down a bit, but it doesn't make sense to go deeper into that language if there is no good documentation... I only found some crappy translated readme...
I'm thinking about going back to the DefaultUI, because it looks cleaner, but there is also noway to have that kind of simplistic playlist overview which is expandable/collapsable...
I wonder how these crazy 'total conversion' skins/themes are possible and this small, simple thing is such a trouble...

A panel which lists all Artists and their Albums of my (selected) Playlist in an explorer like list would be very comfortable.

If in your Media Library each artist has his own folder in the file system with single subfolders for his albums you could try Explorer panel.

Here is a component's screenshot.

It is easy to configure, no need for Title formatting scripts, nothing complicated to learn for using it, integrate it into a Columns UI layout.

I could imagine that it is not a hundred per cent solution for you but as far as I do understand your request it could be helpfully (and please don't burn me if not  ).

Robertina.
This is HA. Not the Jerry Springer Show.

An easy solution was shown you - i think too many clicks for you, but however: easy!.
I must admit: it could be a little bit more convenient. I am thinking of a "main menu -> edit -> create album list view" entry assignable to hotkey and maybe an uielement for album lists custom views - but until something similar will come these few clicks will be the best and once agin: the easiest you can do.

I'm thinking about going back to the DefaultUI, because it looks cleaner ...

Good decision!

CUI looks "dirtier" sometimes be cause kids from the hood like to mess with it.
