EAC and Nero Crashing under Win7

I'm having trouble ripping CDs, burning CDs and DVDs but since I'm new to Win7 I can't figure it out.

I tried reinstalling the software and nothing happened. I tried reinstalling the drive (HL-DT-STDVDRAM GH22NS50 TN02) and nothing happened. I tried enabling and disabling DMA and nothing happened.

The error appears for instance when I tried Action > Copy Selected Tracks > Uncompressed

EAC.exe has stopped working...

what are your "directory" settings (under EAC options)?
do you have EAC set up to ask you where to save any file? If so, EAC may be crashing when it tries to open a dialog box to specify where the uncompressed tracks will be saved.

I recently had the dialog box problem on Winx x64 (wasn't a problem on 32-bit Win7) but figured it out:

EAC on Win7 is still a work in progress but at least I'm able to get it working.
God kills a kitten every time you encode with CBR 320

You're right, it stopped crashing now! However, it takes hours for a CD to get ripped. I tried three discs so far all with perfect surfaces. What's also weird is that accurate rip gives less confirmations then it used to: whenever I burn a copy of a CD for a friend I write down, accurately ripped with the same CRC by at least  __ people. Now I get lesser results. Something's off. I wish transition from XP to W7 wasn't this painful.
