e4c's good with 5.5G iPod?

Anyone using this combination? A good match?

I have some e4c's and am looking to replace a NJB3 with either a Zen Vision:M or 5.5G iPod. I'm concerned about reported audio quaility issues with the iPod. Anyone have the e4c's secifically and a 5.5G iPod who can comment on if the iPod seems to make the most of the e4c's?  Most of my music is encoded with LAME and alt preset standard quality.

If  it's of any use to you, the best I've heard with the 5.5 G iPod are Ultimate Ears Super fiPro 5's. I auditioned the e4c's but the UE ones were better.

How would you characterise 'better'? Have you listened to the e4c's using any other kind of MP3 source? Any different?

No, I just auditioned the  e4c's and the UE's with a 5.5 G iPod and found the latter to be much better - greater depth, a sense of space between instruments etc. Tracks were a mixture of AAC 320, AAC 256 VBR and ALAC.

Just my thoughts.
