Soundcard sounds different

All my music sounds really bad now, its horrible. Its hard to explain how it sounds. It's either lower or playing slower which is making it sound low. I know what my favourite artists sound like, and there is something different.
I think it started sounding different after I was making some beats on my computer with Ableton Live. Sometimes when i use it, and than try to play music in foobar, the music is in really slow motion and unlistenable, but its fine once i restart my computer. This time the sound is not as bad, but it didnt go away when i restarted my computer.

i have windows xp, m-audio 2496.

Are you a heavy drinker or user of various recreational drugs?  They can induce the effects you described.

M-Audio Control Panel/Hardware Settings - do you have the Sample Rate Reset When Idle box checked? If not, try setting it to 44100 and see what happens. May be Ableton Live is setting a particular sample rate that is not being reset when you use foobar. Just a thought!
