Low rumble / Line interfearance / Shielding

As the subject title says, I can hear a great deal of interfearance through my EMU 0404 card, running inside a new SuperMicro mobo / Pentium D 3ghz machine. There is only one fan, and it's on the CPU (a huge and loud zalman)

What could be the reason for hearing low rummbling in my speakers whenever the harddrive is accessed, or when my mouse moves. Dragging windows across the screen also produces this sound...

Is it a problem with sheilding? or grounding? The machine is neatly placed inside a computer case.

Grounding. Reseat motherboard (don't use rubber washers), make sure there are screws in everything.

You could try to mute everything in the sound control panel that you don't use, especially CD and Mic inputs.
Also make sure you have the newest drivers for your soundcard.

The above is all correct. Motherboards use the mounting holes for additional ground, so plastic standoffs or those rubber washers can increase noise. Another tip, put the soundcard as far away from the graphics card as possible (lowest slot).

Also, if your CD/DVD drives are connected with soundcard, try to remove the cables connecting them.
