I got a question for John33

Hi guy, Hi John ,Im dont know alot about mp3 stuffs

Here a little question

I got like over 100 free music cdr and im still thinking about what program am i gonna use to rip all of those cds

I just got Roxio Easy CD DVD Creator ,It included Audio Center, This program rips so fast. It takes like 3 mins to rip the whole cd 50 mins long

And my ear plugin for winamp said it encoded by lame

LAME appear on my winamp exactly like the version of lame4

they all say LAME ( not Lame 3.x or lame 4 )

anyway, what program should i use???

Thanks

For ripping - use EAC, see the 'CD Hardware/Software' Forum for a number of threads on usage and settings.

For LAME encoding - use 3.90.3, see the 'MP3 General' forum for the sticky threads for LAME versions and settings.

Ripping at the speed you indicate implies 'burst' mode with no error checking/correction, etc., and nobody should be using LAME 4.0 for archiving, as yet, as it is still very pre-alpha and a long way from being released.

You could try using Encspot to determine the encoder version.

I don't think that it's better, but if you don't rip CD with EAC, then you don't get any help at secure mode. You can rip CD to some CD-image format with EAC. I don't now what format it is exactly.

Mabay you should just rip and encode your CD's with EAC + Lame as normaly with opening one thread to Encoder in EAC.

I don't know if thats possible.  Regardless there is no reason to do it.

In essence, you can rip a CD as an image (securely...in EAC) by using the "Copy Range" command and selecting all the files...but your player will think it's one giant track (it is). A better method may be to pick "Copy Image & Create Cue Sheet". With certain players (FooBar...I believe), the cue sheet will be read and the file will treated as though it is multi-track, allowing you to skip from track to track like an audio CD or as if it were composed of independent files. Without the cue sheet (it can be created now or later), the individual track identity is lost as far as most players are concerned (regardless if you took that "giant file" and burned it back onto a disk in audio format...AFAIK).
