-Y or --lowpass?

Hi!

When using --alt-preset standard -Y, the lame tag stills says lowpass 19. Is there a switch to use so the tag will contain the proper info? If I add --lowpass 16, the files get slightly smaller, but I guess that's because of the with of the lowpass filter?

Is the -Y switch and the lowpass filter similiar, so that the proper lowpass/lowpass width will give the same result as -Y?

But I also noticed that --alt-preset medium seems to include the -Y switch, but also include a passing of a lowpass filter at 18 kHz if I remember correctly. Why? That could not be very useful?

-Y and --lowpass 16 is not the same thing. Try these posts:

Ok, I get it... I thought -Y left sfb21 out completely, but it is actually keeping frequencys above 16 kHz with (very) high energy.
