CD is not readable in the PC

I have a problem with the "At the heart of winter" CD from Immortal. I just wanted to rip it and realized that my drives don't recognize it. They will show the "load" button infinetely and neither Linux nor Windows will mount it. The CD has some very small scratches but plays perfectly to the end in my CD player.

I doubt that it has any kind of copy protection since it is from 1999 and shows the CD digital audio-Logo. It doesn't even have a data track IIRC, i ripped it some time ago but had a different PC back then.

Anything I can do? I can hardly think of another solution than bringing the CD to a friend and burn it there, but that seems stupid to me.

Thanks
Sebastian

If the scratches are at the very beginning of the disc in the TOC, this might be screwing you up.

Try buffing out the scratches. Lots of threads on this are available.

You could also try ripping it on a friend's machine.

Have you tried "detect TOC manually" (Exact Audio Copy) or CloneCD?

I cannot detect TOC manually as EAC won't start with the CD in drive.

I will search for scratch-removing here, hope that doesn't damage the CD.
