[EAC] different "pre-gap length" on second rip

As the title suggests, I'm getting very different values for "pre-gap length" in the log for every track (except the first one).

For example:
Track 7 from the first rip: 3:27:29.05
Track 7 from the second rip: 8:29:35.42

The CRC values and the AccurateRip checksums and everything else are exactly the same. So I'm a bit confused. I might need an explanation of what exactly do those values mean..

I also have a slightly related question:

Track 16 on a CD wasn't getting an AccurateRip result, so I re-read it a few times and finally got it to be AR ok.
Now, I'd like to fix the original CD log with the accurate reading for that track. Do I just replace the old track 16 entry with the new one? Will the different pre-gap length not be problematic - is it not related to the rip of the CD as a whole?

INDEX 00 locations don't affect CRCs, etc.
It sounds like you really ought to try some other INDEX 00 (called "gap" by EAC) detection methods.

So I guess it's not normal and those values should be the same every time I rip the same CD, right?

I'll switch from B (the default) to A and C and see how it goes. Would you also recommend increasing the accuracy?

Definitely.

It couldn't hurt, but I dare say you could leave it as it is, and see whether you consistently get identical results without it.

Thanks.

I guess also the fact that the gaps were several hours long should've rung a bell..

edit: It looks like method A is the right one. This ripping business is no joke..

Well, if it makes you feel better, I didn't even notice that until you said it there!
