Multi-channel flac playback

Hi all,

I've ripped some 5.1 flac files from DVD-Audio discs but I'm unable to get 5.1 playback, foobar says the file is 6 channel but I only get stereo output. I'm using Vista and I have a bgears b-Enspirer sound card which uses the cmedia 8788 chip.

I can play multi-channel DVD's ok on this system.

TIA
Richard

Sounds like you use SPDIF output. Your card seems to support encoding multi channel audio into DTS format to pass it through to external receiver. Without compression SPDIF is unable to send more than two channels.

Yes using SPDIF and yes of course that's the reason I knew that but thanks for reminding me though
