Problem creating "Offset Test CD" from EAC

am having problems creating the offset test cd from the 'writer' tab (Drive Options).

I put a blank cd-r in the drive(LTR-48246S SS0E), clicked on the button, it pops the warning and I click "Yes", then the progress bar/box shows up, the bar moves up a notch or two. "Estimated time" shows 00:00:42 and then poof the progress box vanishes into thin air! It just closes/disappears without any warning. EAC window remains open and I can do most all other functions successfully. The disc remains blank.

I could successfully write other audio tracks to it to later using Nero - so the drive is working fine.

What is going on ? Anybody experienced this or have any ideas ?

after messing around with this a little bit, apparently it worked after I UNchecked the "Use CDRDAO for writing in the EAC layout editor" option.
CD detected and reported a combined read/write offset of 0.
