Midi playback

Hi, what do I need to play midi files with foobar (v0.8.3)? I tried foo_adplug and foo_midi, both sound crappy and slow down CPU. Windows Media Player plays midi flawlessly so why foobar can't

foobar2000 only supports inputs which produce an audio signal, and not necessarily in real-time, a MIDI input which uses your system synthesizer, or DirectMusic, is not possible. There is one input which uses DirectMusic, but it only functions in real-time, and the audio does not pass through foobar2000, so DSPs and custom output settings will not work, nor will conversion or ReplayGain.

foo_midi will work with any VSTi synthesizer, but that is assuming you want to go and buy Yamaha's SOL2 sequencer package to get their S-YXG50 synthesizer in VSTi form. Or perhaps Edirol's HyperCanvas.

OK, thanks. What I'm interested in ATM is just to playback some midi tunes. What other player would you recommend me (for WinXP)?
