is it better to select the "use ASPI" layer or the the option that usses the built in xp or win 2000 one?
had force aspi installed, then i decided to check out if there was a newer aspi layer out from adaptec, and there was, ver 4.71
it installed no sweat too..... i dont have a adaptec card, so i figured that to be odd. (unless it installed, but wont work right?)
if it is ok to use, then which aspi layer is best, the one used in force aspi or the newer one?
4.6 is the most stable ASPI right now.
I had some issues with the built-in, so I'd say ASPI.
You can also try ASAPI
4.60 is the last ASPI layer that requires an Adaptec card to use their installer, Adaptec offers the later versions for free. However, not only is 4.60 the most stable as /\/ephaestous said, but some application require this version specifically.
hm I never had any problem with the Win32 interface using EAC... btw is the Nero aspi .dll any good? If yes, that's prolly the easiest solution.
cool, thanks for the replies guys.
is there any advantage to useing either the force aspi way of getting it on, or using the normal adaptec 4.6 and the "add remove hardware wizard" trick?
thanls guys

[edit]
(anyone know why adaptec made a later version and its not as good?, or is it sort of like how everyone uses lame 3.90.3 instead of newer versions?)
ForceASPI is obsolete, this other stuff is urban myth. If you have the latest version installed, leave it alone.
Furthermore, if your stuff is working, quit while you are ahead. Don't fool around with it further.
I had problems with adaptec's 4.71 and Burn at once. Works ok with 4.60. What about ahead's aspi?
I have Adaptec's ASPI layer 4.71a2 installed and never had any problems with burnatonce (or whatsoever). But I applied the registry fix aspifix (http://www.marvintec.com/download/aspifix.zip). Try it.

Nero's ASPI lets drives work with EAC that normally wouldn't. It was the only solution as far as my Yam F1 ext burner was concerned. Try it!
